ABSTRACT
Background: Another choice after rhinoseptoplasty is transseptal puncture.
Ramirez Oropeza concerns ferulization and stabilize all the septum portions, avoiding hematomas, and allowing the coping of mucosal
lacerations when this presents.
Objective: To demonstrate that transseptal punctures are less discomfort
and have fewer complications than nasal packing in adult patients
postoperated of semptumplasty.
Material and method: A cohort, random, longitudinal and prospective
study was done at Otorhynolaringology and Head and Neck Surgery
of Mexican General Hospital with 50 adult patients aged from 16 to
62, with an average of 33, with topographic and clinical diagnosis of
septal deviation, whom was placed nasal packing or transseptal puncture
post-septumplasty with technique of upper jaw premaxilla. A measuring
instrument was designed and implemented by a single observator
about symptoms presented during the first seven days of postoperative,
related to the use of one or another treatment modality.
Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the clinical
evolution and complications with nasal packing or transseptal puncture.
Conclusion: The choice of placement of nasal packing or transseptal
puncture does not affect the evolution and postoperative complications.
