ABSTRACT
Introduction: the diabetic foot is considered a global health problem, since it causes a high number of amputations and admissions to hospitals.
Objective: to characterize the patients with this disease treated with Heberprot-P
®.
Methods: adescriptive, retrospective, case series study of patients treated with this drug for five months in the angiology and vascular surgery service of the "Fermín Valdez Domínguez" military Hospital in Holguín province.
Results: predominance of male geriatric patients with modifiable risk factors and distal occlusive pattern was observed. There was correspondence between the severity of the injury and the number of Heberprot-P
® doses used. Minor non-life-threatening adverse reactions predominated and there was a tendency to perform conservative operations as necrectomies.
Conclusions: the patients with diabetic foot treated with Heberprot-P
® had satisfactory progression. This drug proved to be safe and effective and its use is encouraged through the implementation of preventive strategies.
