ABSTRACT
The ERAS protocol is an evidence-based protocol that describes a perioperative care pathway with recommendations for patients at various steps in the perioperative process. The implementation of this protocol may reduce complication rates and enhance functional recovery, and thus reduce hospital length of stay and costs. The aim of this paper is to review the current concepts related to the ERAS protocol.
