Behaviour of otitis media in new born in the opened service of Neonatology in 2010

ABSTRACT
A descriptive observacional study was carried out with the purpose of knowing the the acute otitis media in the opened service of neonatology during 2010 having in mind some elements like risk factors, the use of otoscopy as certainty diagnosis as well as the culture taking of the auditory canal in the possible cases. The universe was constituted by all new born that entered in the opened service of neonatology and it was included in the study all those cases that entered with the following symptoms: fever, irritability, food rejection and secretion or nasal obstruction. 54% of patients who entered in the opened service of Neonatology presented a probable picture of OMA, the risk factor that was found with a greater frequency was the presence of previous respiratory symptoms followed by artificial feeding and the use of nursing bottle, the otoscopy was carried out to 20% of patients with a positivity of 76% and the secretion culture of the auditory canal was carried out to 10% of children with with 50% of positivity.REFERENCES
