ABSTRACT
Nowadays, forearm diaphysial fractures are more frequent than before, due to the increase of car accidents and sports practice. Their management has been traditionally based on osteosynthesis with plaques or endomedular nail implantation (Rush, Stainmann, etc.). In this report, we inform about the results of managing forearm diaphysial fractures (cubitus and radius) in 9 patients, two from the female sex and six from the male one who were implanted a blocked titanium non-drilled nail of the Foresight type place through a proximal approach, and the blocking was performed with two 2.7 mm titanium nails, one of them was proximal and the other one was distal. The following period lasted one year and six months. The patients’ average age was of 45.5 years (ranging from 17 to 74 years). In every case, consolidation was achieved, with an average of 8 weeks in radius and 10 weeks in cubitus. The advantages of using this type of nail consist of the possibility of applying it in a close way, the stability specially obtained in the rotational direction, what allows patients to get an early rehabilitation of pronosupination, besides keeping osseous length.
