ABSTRACT
Based on previously reported personal experience, related to the current use of smooth mammary implants, a simple survey was carried out among these implants manufacturers and 50 certified plastic surgeons in Mexico City concerning current production and utilization of such implants, of the number of times they are used and the reason. The answers indicated that manufacturers continue to produce smooth implants due to their demand, and among surgeons, 92% no longer use this type of implant, there are 2% mostly from other parts of Mexico who occasionally use them, and 6% use these implants as their first choice. More up-to-date information is required regarding smooth implants filled with cohesive gel.
