ABSTRACT
Introduction: The project studies the effect of communication training for nurses. It tackles the brief description of the instrument validation results on behavior of nurses about their way of communication, observed by patients and description of findings from interviews National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery applied to patients. Material and methods: Behavior of nurses about their way of communication, observed by patients was applied to 150 patients hospitalized in National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery to validate instrument and meet patient perception; the instrument was composed of 23 items that enunciate observable behaviors on empathic understanding and respect, with five Likert-type response options forever and ever; also scales apply on understanding, respect and overall satisfaction. Factor Analysis is used in descriptive statistics and tests. Results: Behavior of nurses about their way of communication, observed by patients) is validated with KMO of .791 and Bartlett’s test with a significance of .001; we get two factors, one with eight reagents on empathic understanding as physical proximity variables, listen, transmission of mind, confidence and affection, and another with two about respect. The score of the 10 reactive patients was 42.48 EN150 obtained, show respect reagents on higher values, consistent with the scale score of respect. Values that measure understanding behaviors ranged from 4.53 and 3.69, is observed statistical association between the total sum of behavior of nurses about their way of communication, observed by patients and understanding and satisfaction scales. Discussion: The validation of the behavior of nurses about their way of communication, observed by patients, which stands as alternative for evaluation of nurse-patient interaction, indicator considered in the assessment of quality of health services, the findings in patients National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery show similarities and differences with other national and international studies; offer identification of behaviors that should be maintained or modified to increase quality. Conclusions: Validation and results open an expectation in terms of evaluation and feedback of nurse-patient interaction.REFERENCES
