ABSTRACT
Introduction: To execute hematopoyetic stem cell transplantation is necessary calculated a cellular dose measuring the nuclead total cells (NTC) per kilogram, to more cellularity is cover a mayor kilograms. Identify variable while the recollection of cord blood makes reach a optimal CNT count.
Material and methods: Units from Cord Blood Bank from Centro Médico Nacional «La Raza» in Mexico City, from February 2006 to February 2008, contemplated: initial volume unit, gesta, weeks of gestation, NTC. Assessment the correlation using a student t and Kruskal Wallis statistics in each case, following a ROC construction to delimit the cut off for the volume considered a 8 x 10
8 NTC as minimum in significative variables.
Results: Were analyze 250 cord blood units (BCU); 92.75 mL as initial volume mean, 6.63 x 10
8 TNC as mean, 39 gestation weeks as mode and one gesta as mode. The TNC correlated with the initial volume (Student´s t, p ‹ 0.001). The cut off to reach 8 x 108 TNC is 75 mL with 89% of sensibility.
Conclusion: The initial volume shows sadistic correlation to achieve an adequate TNC harvest.
