ABSTRACT
Introduction: In the daily practice of medicine, public or private, is increasingly important to provide a quality service. The quality of medical care, has in recent years been a subject of analysis and debate worldwide and also a concern from its identification to its implementation in an increasingly globalized medicine, therefore, is essential to know what is the quality of medical care and then to implement it.
Material and methods: We performed a cross-sectional study (survey), in 372 women, aged 18 years, undergoing elective anesthesia or emergency and recovered it, ASA I and II who signed consent under information and Gynecology Hospital Obstetrics. A survey and pre-and post-anesthetic Descriptive statistics with mean and standard deviation, frequency and percentage and χ
2.
Results: Mean age was 36 ± 7.2 years (range 18-52). The most common level of education in this population was 68.5%, only 40.3% knew the name of the anesthesiologist, the most common fear of patients was 66.1% in anesthesia, no statistically significant differences in some items between pre and post anesthetic surveys, improving communication results between the patient and the anesthesiologist in trans anesthetic period.
Conclusion: The quality of Service is not optimal Anesthesiology. It should improve the quality of pre anesthetic evaluation, since it is inefficient enough to give full information to patients about anesthesia and possible risks.
