ABSTRACT
We performed a prospective, transversal and randomized study in 65 patients designed in 2 groups, comparing two anaesthetic methods for the reduction of the shoulder dislocation. We use 10 milliliters of 2% Lidocaine intra-articular for the first group and Propofol at the rate of 1 mg/kg for the intravenous group. In the intra-articular group the reduction was successful in 26 of 31 patients and intravenous group in the total of the 34 including in the group. The effectiveness of the intravenous method was demonstrated statistically with a p ‹ 0.001 for the management of the pain during the reduction, but diminishing the time of hospital stay in the intra-articular group p ‹ 0.001.
