ABSTRACT
Thrombophilias are a group of diseases that favor the formation of thrombosis, both arterial and venous, and have been associated with various complications during pregnancy, among which are: recurrent abortion, preclampsia, intrauterine growth retardation and stillbirth, among others. Congenital or acquired deficiency of coagulation proteins, such as protein C and S are associated to thrombotic events within 30 or 40 years. Deep vein thrombosis is considered the most common manifestation, but may also be associated with vascular brain disease, recurrent pregnancy loss and other ischemic conditions. Currently, thrombotic diseases are among the leading causes of death in the world, the annual morbidity and mortality due to thrombosis, either arterial or venous, is about two million people. We present a case with a history of recurrent pregnancy loss and deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs with combined deficiency of protein C and S.
