ABSTRACT
A descriptive and cross-sectional study of 64 patients with acute myocardial infarction,
assisted in "Dr. Joaquín Castillo Duany" Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital in Santiago
de Cuba was carried out during 2008, in order to determine the variability during
cardiovascular events, with irregular distribution of the episodes of myocardial
ischemia, in relation to the day hours, week or months of the year. Men older than 45
years prevailed in the case material. The ischemic episodes prevailed during the day,
in the first 2 days of the week, as well as in the second trimester of the year. The
mentioned disorder presented circadian, circaseptal and circannual variations, and its
incidence was higher with an increase in age.
