Impact of the Therapy Program of Virtual Reality on theschool evaluations in patients with myelomeningoceleand cerebral infantile paralysis

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The virtual reality therapy (VRT) is aninnovative therapy in the area of Health. Objective:Analyze the impact of VR on school performance indisabled children with cerebral palsy (CP) andmyelomeningocele (CMM).
Patients and methods: Patients with diagnosis of PC and MMC, evaluatedtheir school qualifications before and after receivingTRV’s program.
Results: 31 patients completed thestudy: 14 (45.16%) were female and 17 (54.83%) male.The diagnosis of CP in 20 patients (64.51%) and MMC11 cases (35.48%). The overall impact of VRT oneducational assessments was made by correlating thescore before the application of VR therapy program(A) and the grade immediately following suchprogram (B) and grades obtained two months afterhaving completed (C). Statistical analysis wasperformed by the Kendall test.
Results: It was obtainedA vs. B average +0.8 (Min-0.7 Max +1.5), A vs. B p =0.003; A vs. C + average of 0.2 (Min-1.3 Max +2.4) A vs.C p = 0.003. To Analyzed the scholar grade: ElementarySchool A vs. B, p = 0.001 and A vs. C p = 0.0002, High
School A vs. B p = 0.17, A vs. C p = 0.24; regarding PCIwas A vs. B p = 0.07 and A vs. C p 0.003, and withregard to MMC was A vs. B Kendall p- = 0.0004 y MMCA vs. C p = 0.001.
Conclusions: The VRT mainly benefitschildren with disabilities type MMC and those childrenwho are in primary education. There wasimprovement in the patients with PCI two months afterhaving finished the VR therapy.
