ABSTRACT
Objective: Cryptorchidism incidence in the pediatric population with disability.
Material and methods: Prospective observational not randomized research. Carried out in 116 patients of the Infant Rehabilitation Center, from January 1 to 31 december 2003. The analysis was carried out with charts of frequencies, central tendency measures, confidence intervals in 95% and rate by 10,000.
Results: 31 cases were found; in 45% the diagnosis was at birth, in 9% at the age of three years and after that age in 46%. The confidence interval in 95% for those diagnosed at birth was of 0.4186 - 0.4813; 58% not received treatment. 38% received pharmacological treatment with human chorionic gonadotropin at a dose not specified 3% received surgical treatment. The rate of cryptorchidism was 2,672.41 by 10,000.
Conclusions: A high percentage of patients with disability have cryptorchidism, with deferred treatment, with high risk of malignant testicular cancer. It is indispensable to create a medical culture to improve the prognosis.
