ABSTRACT
The gender perspective in the analysis of the conditions under the different actors of the Higher Education Institutions in Mexico (students, academic and administrative personnel) develop their academic and work activities allow the identification of situations of gender discrimination. This recognition enables the institutionalization of policies that integrate various affirmative actions to build terms of gender equity, fulfilling different conventions national and international that Mexico has signed. The purpose of this study is an analysis from the gender perspective of the working conditions in one of the careers in psychology that is taught in the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in order to make them visible and propose affirmative actions that generate, within the university context, gender equity conditions in which there is a fair assessment to the work done by both, men and women, and to contribute in this way to promote a culture of gender equality. To carry out, this study counted with data from the faculty of that career with current contract to September 2011. The results obtained, contrary to the literature revised, show that men, compared to women, have had lower academic achievement, have fewer incentives, with less incomes to the National System of Researchers and lower contractual categories, it concluded that these results may match with the career area in social sciences, where women in recent years have reached a higher presence and proposed new research to understand the factors that have hindered the men to follow its development, both academic and work, to promote actions that enable their incorporation in different programs, as well as their female partners.
