ABSTRACT
In Mexico, maternal and child health remains as one of the major public health challenges. The problems related to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period represent a major cause of mortality among women of reproductive age, and are highly determined by the socioeconomic conditions and lack of knowledge. Objective: to evaluate a nursing educational intervention at the level of self-care skills during pregnancy. Methodology: Quantitative study of preexperimental type, through a nursing educational intervention aimed at strengthening the skills of self-care in pregnancy. Results: In relation to the previous assessment of the educational strategy (previous test) it was inferred that pregnant women had inadequate knowledge about the self-care of pregnancy, given that according to the level of knowledge 26.7% obtained a good knowledge, 43.3% regular and 30.0% was located in bad. Discussion: In relation to the preliminary evaluation of the nursing intervention. In relation to posterior test results, the level of knowledge of pregnant women increased from pretest to posttest, presenting a higher level of knowledge, since only 6.7% received regular knowledge and 93.3.% were characterized by having a good knowledge, which indicates that the nursing education program to self-care for pregnant women had infl uence on them. Conclusions: It’s very important to highlight the effectiveness of nursing educational intervention using educational support system as a tool to strengthen self-care actions in pregnant women.REFERENCES
