ABSTRACT
Background: Vaccination is one of the key achievements of preventive medicine increasing adult life expectancy by more than 30% in
the last 50 years. Quality of life and longevity improved as vaccination has afforded protection against some biological agents that cause
disease.
Objective: To investigate the vaccination scheme in adults that attend the ABC Medical Center categorizing them by pathological
and non-pathological medical history.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was undertaken applying a questionnaire to patients
and their relatives over the age of 19, who attended the ABC Medical Center in both campus: Santa Fe and Observatorio.
Results: The population that attended the hospital was lacking in adequate vaccination coverage taking into account those vaccines
required for age, life-style and risk factors.
Conclusions: It is necessary to create a preventive culture among both health professionals
and the general population in order to achieve a complete vaccination coverage.
