ABSTRACT
The main physiology function of the immunity system consists in the
defense against infectious micro-organism. Sometimes there is a loss
of immunological tolerance with the consequence ignorance of self-antibodies.
Some thyroid diseases are related with autoimmune diseases
associated with the most common exocrine glands, between them, there
are the autoimmune thyroid organ specifi c diseases like the Graves-
Basedow and the Hashimoto thyroiditis. It has been shown a higher
prevalence of autoimmune thyroid diseases between patients with connective
tissue diseases (systemic autoimmune) like Sjögren syndrome,
rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic myopathic
diseases. In the same way it has been identifi ed a higher prevalence
of antinuclear antibodies and against to antigens extracted from
the nucleus in patients with a thyroid autoimmune disease. There is a
high percentage of patients with subclinical thyroid diseases, is recommended
in patients with connective tissue diseases with hypo or hyperthyroidism,
the measuring of thyroid globulin and peroxide antibodies.
