ABSTRACT
The majority of the potential organ donors are located in the neurosurgical and intensive care units, therefore we must have the necessary knowledge to identify and maintain the brain death patient. Among the main causes that deteriorate the patient are; hypotension, diabetes insipidus, hormonal deficiencies and hypothermia. It’s correct reestablishment inside the ICU results in a better use of the organs and better results in outcome of the graft function in the receptor. This revision is created from our hospital’s experience in which we have procurement and multiorgan transplant programs. It is directed to intensive care, internal medicine and transplant coordinators, which are the main specialties in contact with BD patients.
