ABSTRACT
Just as the cultivation of the mind is food for the soul, evidence based medicine (EBM) is a trend in clinical medicine that allows decisions about daily clinical practice to be made based on scientific knowledge. This strategy highlights the importance of identifying the best evidence originating from clinical investigation articles, interpreting it adequately and then applying it at the moment of choosing a treatment, giving a prognosis or applying a diagnostic test. There is greater and greater pressure to abandon the traditional clinical model based on non-systemized clinical experience, tradition, authority, and expert opinion, for a model based on scientifically explicit evidence that originates from original investigation and that has passed a rigorous process of revision before being published.REFERENCES
