Carotid-subclavian bypass and endovascular graft as hybrid approach in thoracic aorta aneurysms

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Thoracic aortic aneurysms are less frequent than those involving the abdominal portion. Conventional treatment is based on open surgery, but an important morbi-mortality rate is associated, mainly in patients with comorbidities. The endovascular approach is a feasible technique for this pathology.
Objective: Present the evaluation and management of a 56-year-old man with a Thoracic Aorta Aneurysm and important associated comorbidities, submitted to a hybrid approach (open and endovascular).
Conclusions: Endovascular treatment for thoracic aorta aneurysms is a safe method with excellent results and low morbi-mortality rate, especially in non-candidates for open surgery. A multidisciplinary and individualized approach is mandatory, particularly when a hybrid approach is conducted.
