ABSTRACT
Background: The carotid hypersensitivity syndrome is rare in our
country but represents a clinical entity with inhibitory response
characteristics or glass cardio depressant in its assessment.
Objective: To report the successful development of the patient with
carotid hypersensitivity syndrome glass depressant, management
and review of literature.
Methods: A case of a woman previously healthy 41 years after
cervical trauma surgery syncope presented with symptomatic
bradycardia and periods of hypotension during the event with slow
recovery but responsive to sympathomimetic test was performed
carotid massage with glass depressor response at 10 seconds
and hypotension period greater than 50 mm Hg of systolic blood
pressure response to slow despite the administration of atropine.
Conclusions: We should consider this diagnosis in previously
healthy patients who are undergoing orthopedic surgery of the neck
and showing pictures of syncope with a resolution of the case successfully
if we consider this as a determining factor.
