ABSTRACT
The development of executive functions in children very low weigh at birth was evaluated at the school age. One transversal study was realized in Camaguey city. The sample was 11 children very low weight at birth and 11 classmates normal weight at birth. The assessment was made to 7 and 8 years old. The battery of psychological test includes observation of the home and school, interview to teachers and parents, and neuropsychological test to assess the executive functions. The result shows that the development of executive functions in children very low weight at birth are different of the children with normal weight at birth, it proves immaturity in the executive function in school age. There are significative differences in the transference, planning and organization, mental flexibility, self regulation, and independence.
