ABSTRACT
In the cervical uterine cancer diagnosis chain, the biopsy is categorical, and is a fact that HPV is involved in this event but not the only
cause, it creates dysplasia and only in a few of the initially infected cases, cancer. The microscopic appearance of the transformation zone
of the cervix is complex and specially when infected by HPV, these microscopic images are frequently misdiagnosed as CIN and in a few
cases as metaplasia. Some molecular markers to clear this issue where developed and p16 is the most highlighted of them, and despite
that is very useful especially in high-grade lesions it is no used routinely. This review deals with the experience of almost 10 year with this
marker in uterine cervix.
