ABSTRACT

Neuroendocrine cervical carcinoma is a rare tumour that comprises 1 to 2% of all cervical carcinomas. Due to the subepithelial location of this neoplasm optimal cytological detection is difficult. Neuroendocrine carcinoma exhibits local aggressiveness and early dissemination and its prognosis is poor.
The present report describes a 46 year old woman who presented with vaginal bleeding and exophytic cervical mass. Biopsy of the lesion revealed Neuroendocrine
Carcinoma of the cervix; stage IIB (FIGO). The patient received concurrent chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
