ABSTRACT
A hernia is a protrusion of a tissue or organ through the wall of the cavity in which it is normally contained. There are different types of hernias and they can be classified according to their location or content. Inguinal hernias are the most frequent in men and women, especially indirect hernias which can be found in 2 to 5% of the general population (5:1 in men than in women). A hernia that is not incarcerated will usually produce no symptoms, in which case local pain will arise in the first hand. Diagnose will be made by physical examination. They require surgical management, either by hernioraphie (suture) or hernioplasty (plastic mesh).
