ABSTRACT
Telemedicine represents the practice of medicine over distance;
it goes from establishing a diagnosis to the implementation of a
therapeutic plan and patient follow up. In a primary care unit, a
teledermatology program was implemented in September 2007,
with a total of 1874 patients attended, achieving a reduction of
the waiting time for a dermatologic attention from six months to
seven days. Special interest deserves the immediate recognition
and treatment of those patients whose diagnosis is correlated
with a poor prognosis. The objective is to share the
experience acquired during the three years of the program, called
Telederma, as an alternative of specialized dermatological care.
