ABSTRACT
The Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is an universal pandemic of upward tendency according to the World Organization of the Health calculating at the moment around 150 million diabetic people and for the year 2025 will be 300 million people affected by the illness in the world, of continuing this tendency of growth. In Mexico, the diabetes mellitus is constituted in a true problem of public health with 5 million diabetic people and for the year 2025 are calculated approximately in 15 millions. At least 90% of the diabetics is of type 2. The havocs are also known from this illness to macrovascular level and their incidence about the mortality, the same as the renal damage is known causing affected people´s of inadequacy renal terminal thousands, and of ocular damage causing people´s thousands with blindness. This serious increase of frequency of type diabetes mellitus 2 foreseen for this civilizations together with the increase in the disposition of rich foods in calories. And it is more serious still that the evidence points out that half of people affected of diabetes mellitus doesn´t know it. For it is imperative the study in all the aspects of this illness, from their prevention until new treatment forms. In this article some of the studies more recent envelope are revised this terrible illness.
