Imperforate hymen cause of acute abdominal pain and hematocolpos in adolescent: case report

ABSTRACT
The imperforate hymen is a rare vaginal malformation. Its frequency reaches 0.5 to 1/1000 women. These disorders usually occurs during adolescence. The imperforate hymen is the simplest defect that results in primary amenorrhea. It may be associated with cyclic pelvic pain and a mass kidnapping perirectal with blood in vagina (hematocolpos). The diagnosis based on physical examination and is easily corrected with surgery. We report the clinical case of adolescent patient with primary amenorrhea condition characterized by acute abdominal pain secondary to imperforate hymen hematocolpos, starry incision was made in hymen and drainage hematocolpos with a favorable outcome.
