ABSTRACT
Objective: To determine if the prolactin plasma levels differ in women with and without overactive bladder.
Method: Cross-sectional design to compare plasma prolactin levels in women with and without overactive bladder. The diagnosis of overactive bladder was realized according to an autoapplicable questionnaire of eight questions «VH8».
Results: We found statistically significant difference of means for the prolactin plasma levels, appearing plasma levels more elevated in patients with overactive bladder (77.16 versus 23.24 ng/dL).
Conclusion: Women with overactive bladder present greater plasma levels of prolactin, probably by molecular biology mechanisms.
