ABSTRACT
In this paper, after a biographical note on Anton Chéjov and include a synopsis of his novel El pabellón nº 6 and the sociopolitical situation in which is located the work is passed to analyze it from a psychopathological perspective. The study focuses mainly offered in four interrelated areas: The mentally ill: the case of Iván Dmítrich Grómov; Andréi Yefímych figure, the “doctor-patient”; hospital environment and psychiatric care, and community context. In short, a phenomenological study on a novel that, despite the time elapsed, enables psychological level the current understanding and treatment of mental illness.
