ABSTRACT
The true incidence of congenital heart disease is difficult to determine, but about 0.8 percent of live births have an alteration of this type and occur by Mendelian inheritance. In this case, an atrial septal defect closure with Amplatzer device is performed. This device is composed mainly of nitinol with minimal metal structure and poses a low risk of thrombus formation in the disk, decreasing the complications of atrial arrhythmia and no reported cases of wall lesions of the heart resulting in a perforation, a potentially fatal complication; in this way provides an alternative treatment for this type of congenital heart disease.
