ABSTRACT
This paper is devoted to reflection on the devastation caused depression for men and women living in Mexico in the early years of this century. Given the complexity of the phenomenon and the impact of both physical, mental, labor, economic and social changes have caused the population; we want to show what were the figures on depression with which the country began in this century? and how this condition impacted men and women in the various moments of his life (childhood and adulthood)? Although it can only be said in passing, we want to show that it is an underlying condition collective imagination on happiness that cannot be ignored in discussions about depression. Any researcher / a medium quality knows no statistical number alone says enough. Whoever forces you to talk about is the researcher, positioned in time and space and subjectivity in tow, so we must search the thoughtful and comprehensive ways the apprehension of the many facets that exhibit this phenomenon and in turn suggest possible ways to its solution. This research is structured into four sections. In the first contextualize and introduce general information about depression in the world. In the second shows the relationship between the ideas of happiness (religious, scientific, materialist and postmodern) and depression in the country, in the third presented the figures of depression produced in different spaces and times in both women and men in Mexico, in the fourth section shows the figures for depression at different stages of life in men and women in their early and adult and simultaneously reflect on their differences. Finally, we present some final reflections.
