ABSTRACT
The porpoise of this article is based on a presentation of different theoretical concepts that underline the study of family stress, its historical development. Highlight the contributions in advancing the field of knowledge, and discussing some limitations in the way of collecting information, maintaining the individual perspective trough the perception of some members of the family. The theoretical postulates of the article, emphasizes the interaction of individual and family variables to find an explanation of the actions exerted by individuals in the family variables, we went deep into the systemic approach and the theory of group. Coming to accept that in the group is interwoven system of interpersonal ties cannot be treated as a simple reproduction of each individual, but as a ported of and “individual” resized from their physical location and psychological presence in a specific group, the contact with each other, from a continues series of exchanges between family members, this is a mutual influence and not a mere linear coincidence, it is a circular coincidence. We propose, a theoretical proposal that argues that the answers to the internal or external demands in the family, is a group response, which makes us think that the valuation is correlating individual cognitive and exchanged with the rest of the members of the family, building a rating so familiar and that the impact of the event in the family varies depending of the attributions of meaning in every family that has significance and this will influence the style of coping that the family assume. We describe the adaptive confrontations where the adaptive resources and social support. The not adaptive coping, is a family inability to readjust the demands of the event. We conclude that coping is a modulator of family health, making the family more vulnerable or more resistant to adverse health situations.
