ABSTRACT
The evolution of medicine is a constant and today we are living the transition to the personalized medicine. There is
no a unique definition but all of them are based on the individualization of the treatment to a specific patient. This
individualization is based on the genetic sequence that each individual has. The principal characteristics of this
model is the personalization, prediction, prevention and the patient participation, which benefits the patient by early
detection of disease, as well as the possibility to choose the correct treatment with the correct dosification,
increase the therapeutic adherence, prevent adverse effects, increase the life quality and reduce the total cost of
health attention.
