ABSTRACT
Cerebral palsy is a disease that is diagnosed early in life and is characterized by multiple sequels on the child who has it. It is an unexpected event that impacts the family emotionally and imposes requirements for internal changes to ensure compliance with their duties to the child's disability status. A descriptive study was conducted with a universe of 53 families among its members had a child from birth to four years old, diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Was developed in the Hospital "Julio Diaz" of the City of Habana, Cuba in 2010. A theoretical model was used to evaluate methodological Family Health I. Louro (2004) and applied key informant interviews of the family, to characterize the health situation. The results stands by the fact that these families have few resources and social support have a critical economy, which places them in a position to address overuse of everyday life, however prevalent adequate levels of family functioning, which speaks for health as a group at the expense of harmonious interpersonal relationships and cohesive with good communication.
