ABSTRACT
This article analyzes from a qualitative, explorative and heuristic perspective the problems of young people working on the streets. The research was made in March 2012, it consisted on five interviews to kids between 12-20 years old, two of them had family and the other three didn´t have any. Results show that these people often uses violence as a resource to solve problems, nevertheless family provides them tools that allows them to avoid risk behaviors despite their environment, though having a family is not enough, it is also important to have a close relation with it. For those who doesn´t have a family, “la banda” (the gang) represents a way in which they can find support among themselves; these people make their own rules and laws in order to survive even if this implies risk behaviors such as drugs, fights or any kind of violence.
