ABSTRACT
Vitamins that belong to the so called B
omplex, specifically thiamine or vitamin B
1, pyridoxine or vitamin B
6, and cobalamine or vitamin
B
12, have been utilized either alone or combined as food supplements in cases of serum deficiencies. Nevertheless, vitamins recognized
also as
neurotrophic, have pharmacological effects as well. One of these biological effects is analgesia, effect little known, but proven both
experimentally, and clinically. B vitamins deficiency associated neuropathies pathophysiological bases are reviewed, specifically related
to diabetes mellitus and chronic alcoholism, as well as clinical trials that have shown both their efficacy and tolerability.
