ABSTRACT
Alcohol is a teratogen that can cause a variety of deleterious effects on cognitive development, physical and behavioral child. The influence of alcohol on the fetus depends on the pattern and amount of alcohol consumed, stage of fetal development, and a number of risk factor for socio-behavioral, as a disadvantaged socioeconomic position. The full phenotype of fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is expressed only in children whose mothers have a history of chronic alcoholism or acute alcoholism, intermittent and often. However, alcohol consumption in low doses can give rise to a variety of less serious results, although often clinically significant. The FAS may have among other, changes in growth, craniofacial abnormalities such as microcephaly, palpebral fissures, maxillary hypoplasia, short nose and rolled up, smooth philtrum, hypoplastic or superficial, thin upper lip and smooth. We report a case of a patient with FAS in relation to their clinical findings and dental treatment and was performed at the Center for Dental Specialties.
