ABSTRACT

Scarlet fever is caused by Streptococcus pyogenes and characterized mainly by an exanthematic rash associated to pharingitis, strawberry like tongue and fever.
It affects small children. The incidence depends mainly on the geographic location.
Complications of this disease are rare and mortality is low. We present a case of scarlet fever and urinary tract infection in a 4 year old girl from Ciudad Quesada, San Carlos.
