ABSTRACT
The clinical use of microalbuminuria detection in diabetic patients, for prevention of renal damage and cardiovascular diseases, has been established. Many procedures have been established in order to slow the progression to proteinuria. Detecting microalbuminuria in the early stages of diabetes mellitus, leads to the prevention of renal damage and cardiovascular diseases. There are other fields where the detection of microalbuminuria might have a clinical utility, as a diagnostic method, prognosis or therapeutic approach.
