ABSTRACT
We report a case of transient paraplegia, secondary to location with air of the peridural space in a 58 years old woman under total abdominal hysterectomy. No metameric involution of the peridural blockage was detected and presences of air rather than epidural hematoma by CT scan, establishing the etiology of paraplegia. The evolution was satisfactory, sensory and motor blockage disappeared 14 h after the procedure without neurological sequelae. Emphasis is placed on post anesthetic surveillance for early diagnosis and it is highly recommended not to use air to locate peridural space.
