ABSTRACT

The pregnant is a physiological state, that produces different changes in the cardiac frequency, circulating volume and cardiac output, besides; it has been considered for many authors as a pro arrhythmic state, either in those who present a new event or patients with history of cardiac disease. The symptomatology of these arrhythmias can be confused with the physiology changes of a pregnant woman. The treatment of these arrhythmias, even its well established with grades of recommendations and levels of evidence, can produce doubt at the moment of presentation, thinking in the welfare of bionomy, and the possible complications inherent of the agents, on a situation, like is present on this document. A case of a 31 years old female with a 8 weeks of pregnant, who present a supra ventricular tachycardia with hemodynamic stability, managed in acute phase with adenosine, in agreement of the Spanish Society of Cardiology Guidelines for the management of patient with cardiovascular diseases during pregnancy, with restoration of normal sinus rhythm; the patient was sent to the obstetric intensive care unit, where complementary studies was made, establishing as a final treatment which will made at the end of pregnancy. The objective of this document is to establish a medical reference of the world incidence of this kind of arrhythmias, that if it’s a low incidence, it could be because of an under diagnosis at the moment of obstetrics evaluation.
