ABSTRACT
Background: Left coronary artery disease is the most lethal of ischemic heart diseases. Its traditional treatment has been aortic coronary artery bypass surgery However; the efficacy of percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with coronary lesions in this segment was recently assessed. The possibility of extending the application of this procedure is a real option to achieve benefits in terms of improved life quality and survival in these patients. Case presentation: A 47 year old female patient manifesting symptoms of myocardial ischemia and evidence of severe systolic dysfunction by echocardiography. Angiography showed a severe injury of left main coronary artery which was treated by percutaneous coronary intervention with stent implantation. Conclusions: Evolution at 30 days was favorable with a clear clinical improvement and regression of systolic function to normal.REFERENCES
