ABSTRACT
Background: Rectal hemangioma is a rare disease that affects young adults. The most common presenting sign is painless rectal bleeding. Case presentation: 43 year old female patient with a history of rectal bleeding of an undefined cause for three years, despite endoscopic studies were normal. The case is diagnosed as a possible ulcerative colitis. The patient continued with rectal bleeding which caused her severe anemia and intense tenesmus, therefore, a surgical treatment was applied. The pathological study confirmed the presence of a cavernous hemangioma of the rectum. This case is novel as it is rare worldwide. Conclusions: The patient improved and had no postoperative complications.REFERENCES
