ABSTRACT
Background: the human Morphophysiology implement in the basic cycle of medical studies raises concerns about how it meets the quality of teaching and learning process that is inserted. Objective: to assess the quality of Human morphophysiology III lectures in medicine studies according to the traditional teaching model. Methods: a mixed methodology, validated trough experts’ criteria, has been applied. Two important phases: data collection and data analysis can be highlighted. We used as a basis the application of the methodology for quality assessment designed by the National School Effectiveness Project, which we adapted to our context in Cienfuegos Medicine School. Our actions plan was validated through experts’ criteria. Assessment tools such as monitoring and assessment guidelines for Morphophysiology lectures are used as well as surveys to students and open interviews to the teachers working with this subject. Results: the validated methodology allowed us to assess the quality of the lectures. It proved not to be definite, for indicators that were not included such as the technical state of the materials and tools to be used and the amount of students in class had a negative impact in our results. Among the indicators showing more weaknesses we found: findings implementation, the contribution of lectures with independent studies, timely completion of lectures and teachers’ inadequate methodological preparation and mastery of contents. Conclusion: it was possible to design a methodology for assessing the quality of the advisors in Morphophysiology III conference which identified application process indicators that are difficult, these indicators can be included in teacher improvement plans for ensuring the effectiveness of the process.REFERENCES
