ABSTRACT
Law friction arthroplasty Charnley type was the result of studies performed with femoral heads from 22 to 41.5 mm with teflon. The 22 mm was found to be the best. In 1995 Older reported 4869 L.F.A. a 20 to 25 years with 85% of good results. Our experience in Mexico was 77% in 42 hips. At 20-25 years 10 of the hips required reoperation of the 32 hips; 4 required reoperation between 25 to 31 years, 8 died, five were senil and were not studied. We were left with 15 hips (12 patients) with 25 to 30 years. Average age was 37 years. Ten females 5 males. Gruen and Amstutz classification: zone I 4 hips, zone II 3 cases, zone IV 3 hips. Wear with the Griffit technique 1 mm every 9 years. The results from the Mayo Clinic at 20-25 years was 80% with the new materials better results will be obtained in the future.
