ABSTRACT
The ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament is a leading cause of myelopathy in Japan and countries of Middle East. In Latin- American countries has a rare incidence, the clinical presentation is variable. The surgical treatment consists of medullar decompression, anterior and/or posterior and fusion if necessary, the prognosis is reserved to myelopathy extension, and the kind of ossification. A case of a non-oriental patient is communicated, treated at the ISSSTE Puebla Regional Hospital with cervical laminoplasty C3, C4, C5, C6, with posterior fusion with iliac bone graft. Literature discussion is made.
