ABSTRACT

In the last decades it has observed an increment in the number of cases of obesity in all the ages, including elderly. In addition of its known association with cardiac disease, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and cancer, the obesity is associated with an increment of the risk of physical and cognitive disabilities. Age inside is not a contraindication for the obesity treatment; if it ensures a program for weight reduction that minimizes the possibility of adverse effects in the muscle, bone density and other aspects of the nutritional status.
