ABSTRACT
Introduction: The health care of the insured in the Social Security Institutes for the public workers existing in each state of the Mexican Republic is based in a series of medical provisions that although well regulated and defined by the federal and state laws, demand significant modifications due to the changing health status of the workers and relatives. Thus, an Integral Model of Health Care (IMHC) for the Institute of Social Security of the Tabasco State (ISSTE) was designed and was incorporated e “Worker's Health” Program. Objective: To describe the basic activities carried out during the design stage of the Model, and particularly, the experimental phase of the “Worker´s Health” program from September to December 2009. Material and method: A descriptive research based in data collection, obtained from basic documents related with the IMHC. Besides, 350 working man and other persons involved and participants at experimental phase of the “Worker's Health” program were interviewed. Results: Included in the more significant ones there are the findings related to working risks, the brigades' functional quality to provide services in selected centers and the positive worker's responses about activities of program. Conclusions: The results obtained during the experimental phase encourage the model generalization in future years achieving significant changes in the working risks prevention, in relationships between workers and employers, and in the worker-family link, allowing the improvement in the health situation.REFERENCES
